This course will cover a wide variety of research techniques and develop the students' knowledge of the many databases and search platforms available at the college. We will also spend some time looking at persistent questions in research such as the roll of online information, plagiarism, and others.

Over the course of the semester, students will write two short reading responses as well as present on a variety of research methods or tools to their classmates. Before or during Spring Break, students will also visit a major research library and write up a brief description of their experience. The final project of the class - an annotated bibliography - can be complementary to a research paper for another course or to plan for a tutorial and should demonstrate a working knowledge of the research techniques covered in class as well as facility with the bibliographic software used.
