For this paper, I will allow you to stray away from the forces of economics.  Your goal should be to illuminate an American social problem, describe the rhetoric that surrounds it, and advocate for a solution.

You must have at least five sources in this paper and one of these sources must be literary in a traditional sense (a novel, poem, or play, for instance).  I would like to see, in the interplay of non-fiction sources, how fiction is used to create a dialogue around the problem you have chosen.

This paper is to be a minimum of 10 pages in length and it represents 30% of your final grade.  That percentage is described as follows

18%  Final paper
4% work with peer partner
4% complete rough drafts turned in on time
4% project proposal along with a research description
