1. Based on the results developed in Section 4.6 (for a particle incident from the left on the step potential shown in Figure 4.21), which is bigger -- the amplitude of the reflected wave, or the amplitude of the transmitted wave? Given that the one with the bigger amplitude also has the bigger probability density, how can it be that R (the reflection probability) is sometimes bigger than T (the transmission probability)?
