First assignment -- Due Thursday Sept. 13

Setting Goals and Intentions for the Semester

What are you hoping to get out of Beginning Modern Dance this semester?

What intentions can you set for your own participation in class this semester to help you get the most out of this experience?

In your brief experience in class thus far, what parts of what we've been exploring have made the most sense in your body?  What parts are the most challenging right now?  Do you have any questions about what we are doing in class?

Read the Participation Rubric posted on Courses.  Make note of any aspects of strong participation that you think will take extra effort on your part.  If you have questions about any part of the rubric, feel free to include them in your writing.

Length:  One page, typed double spaced.

Due: Thursday Sept. 13 on paper in class OR via email before class

Instructor's Note:  This opening assignment serves the dual purpose of helping me get to know each of you a bit better  and giving you a chance to enter thoughtfully into your study of modern dance.  What I learn from you will help me to teach you better.  Engaging in understanding and shaping your own dance practice (even as a beginner) will help you to learn.
