Course Objectives:

At the successful completion of the course, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • Improved ability to articulate your body and to access it’s strength and flexibility for movement
  • A physical understanding of principles of modern dance including: dynamic alignment, muscular efficiency, weight, momentum, balance/off-balance, extension, contraction, etc.
  • Increased comfort in learning movement sequences and moving your body fully in space
  • An appreciation of the history of modern dance and how modern dance technique relates to modern dance choreography and improvisation
