Book Review Submissions

Please submit the written review one week after your in class presentation of the same material.

These book reviews should perform three major tasks. First, you
should attempt to place the works in context with other works on the topic. Second, the essay should summarize the major points of all works as succinctly as possible. Finally, attempt to assess the relative merit of the book and whether or not the author has convinced you of their position.

For these sections, you can think about the following questions:
What new ideas does the text contribute to the historiographical debate?
Does the book rely on new evidence or make use of new theories?
What other works does the author use in their own arguments, both in a positive and negative manner?
How successfully does the book accomplish what it sets out to do?
