     STUDIO FEE :

    The course fee for materials and basic tools is $75. 

    This will cover a number of different materials used in class.

    These materials include paint, paper, some drawing materials and cardboard.

    Week 13 - LINES AND THE GOLDEN MEAN           OBJECTIVE:

     To explore division of space and PERSPECTIVE in light of the rule of thirds, ‘GOLDEN MEAN’ or magic triangle.

    To play with letters in an metaphorical, abstract and non-linear way.

    Start by looking back at the compostions used as brainstorms for assignments – or start fresh from previous assignment prompts

  • WEEK 9

    BEZOLD EFFECT

    To experiment with color – Create a repetitive design in which the total effect of the percieved hues used are altered by the change of ONE dominant hue.   

    Wilhelm Von Bezold, a 19th century rug designer discovered an OPTICAL INTERACTION EFFECT which now carries his name.  The Bezold Effect describes the change in the appearance of a design as one dominant hue in the composition is changed.  In other words – by changing the color that occupies the majority of the pattern – the entire sense of the design may be changed.

    Color Wheel Composition

    OBJECTIVE:

    To make an Itten color wheel with even flow from hue to hue showing the relationships between the colors considered to be primary colors, secondary colors and tertiary colors.

    CONTRARY DIRECTIONAL DOMINANCE

    due Wednesday the 18th of September

    Create tiny marks next to each other to create a visual flow. Experiment with placing your marks very close together in some areas then spreading them apart from each other to give the illusion that the surface of the picture plane is undulating, contracting and expanding
