“He who considers things in their first growth and origin, whether a state or anything else, will obtain the clearest view of them.” Aristotle

A modified version of Marlboro's core humanities class, RLP, this class will focus on texts from the ancient world. Besides reading and discussing Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Sophocles, Euripides, Epictetus, and Lucretius we will consider what it means to read these Great Books in the United States at a time when justice and stability seem to be in short supply.

    Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor
