In this course we will trace the themes and questions that run across different art disciplines, with a focus on the role of the body in art production and experience. Throughout the semester students will be exposed to different art practices and movements, highlighting the connections, conceptual as well as material, between different art disciplines. Students enrolled in this class must be taking a practice based intermediate level course in either the performing or the visual arts.
|SUPPORT OF PRACTICE: We will be looking at some of the movements and themes in art which you can pull from and respond to in your art practice. The class explores artist movements, schools, exhibitions, etc. Guest speakers working in different mediums may contribute to class discussion through the course of the semester. Students will produce online forum responses in response to slide shows, films, artist statements, interviews, exhibition catalog introductions and exhibition reviews.|
